Veolia Environnement was awarded a comprehensive environmental services contract by PSA Peugeot Citroën, covering industrial utilities, the water cycle and waste management at Peugeot's new production plant at Trnava in Slovakia.
Only a few months after contract handover, its scope was extended to include traffic management at the customer's private rail freight terminal. This contract is very much part of Veolia Transport's expanding European rail freight business. Veolia Environnement at Trnava will directly or indirectly employ some 400 people, serving a contract worth €65 million over 8 years.
The world's leading maker of special coated and art paper, Arjo Wiggins, signed up Veolia Environnement's Energy Division to build and operate a steam production plant at its Wizernes mill in France.
The new steam unit, due to go into service in November 2006, will supply an annual 340,000 tons of steam, raising the mill's paper production capacity. The 12 year contract is worth €10.6 million a year.
Veolia Environnemental Services was awarded a 3 year "clean plant" contract at Exxon Mobil's Notre Dame de Gravenchon site in France.
Veolia Environnemental Services has responsibility for the on-site management of all standard and hazardous waste, for cleaning and industrial maintenance, and for the disposal or treatment of non-hazardous waste. The contract, worth €2 million a year, provides for a dedicated on-site team trained to the highest standards of safety.
