Novartis, a leader in global healthcare, refocused on its core business and outsourced all its environmental services on its four industrial sites at Basel, Switzerland.

Veolia Environnement proposed an integrated, tailor-made service to Novartis, covering the supply and management of utilities, the collection and treatment of all industrial waste, solvent recycling, and water cycle management. All 320 staff involved in the outsourcing project were given employment by Veolia Environnement, on a voluntary basis.

Veolia Environnement is committed to service level agreements, to specified levels of plant availability and to a progress plan to generate further savings for Novartis.
